Start reading labels. I know it sucks, but you have to do it – and there’s no way to avoid this tip. If you don’t know what you’re putting in your mouth, you’re flying blind. Don’t assume, either – triple-check the ingredients list and serving sizes. You must rely on yourself for this; nobody else is going to be able to lose the weight or do the math for you. It’s not that complicated a task, but it will require effort. If nothing else, just pay attention to the calorie count.

It’s amazing to read the comments by people who probably didn’t pass high school biology criticize the suggestions by a doctor who does heart surgery….Everything I’ve ever heard from Dr. Oz I agree with 100%……

Nope I eat different amounts all the time and I never ever count calories. Hormones play an important role in whether we gain weight or not. Eat 1000 calories of oreo cookies or 1000 calories of tomatoes and free range chicken, and just watch what happens. See how you feel and you will most definitely gain weight eating refined foods.

You’re body has adapted to your daily caloric intake. Add or subtract from your norm and you will see results.

Our bodies weren’t meant to handle all the insulin that floods it from eating processed food mostly refined sugars and carbs. It isn’t necessarily the calories we intake it is the quality of these calories, I have only eaten organic and free range whole foods for years and I eat tons of calories and never gain a pound because my hormones are in balance.

Only if you’re inactive otherwise the Insulin will drive the sugar into the muscle

Yes but thermogenesis doesn’t account for the fact that calories that come from refined carbohydrates or refined sugars trigger hormones which send signals to the brain to store fat. Insulin makes you store fat.

Though there is some truth to what you’re saying the Law of Thermogenesis states that in order to see fat loss you must expend more calories than you consume. That’s a fact.

let’s see… 2 slices of chocolate cake is 300 calories, so if I eat just one piece , that little suttle difference will help me lose weight… huh? it’s not healthy eating no matter how many calories you eat if all your calories are useless, cooked dead food… and walking isn’t the best way..
    it’s rebounding… do some research

Dr. Oz is COOL!!! He practices what he preaches. Not like most Fat, hypocrite, out of shape doctors who just put you on drugs so they get incentives from endorsing pharmacueticals.

This guy is wrong, read Gary Taubes book Good Calories Bad Calories. It isn’t as simple as calories in calories out. 100 calories of a complex carb or protein is much different than 100 calories of sugar.
